biopic

Aleksandra Sever is a Croatian Singer/Songwriter, Poet and Painter who grew up in Germany and moved to Los Angeles in the year 2000. With a Croatian father and a Slovenian mother she speaks four languages and as an only child, often got the attention she didn't really want. Aleksandra started playing the piano at age 4 that was given to her by her parents for her birthday. Although she always sang when she was alone, it wasn't until much later that she was performing in front of an audience.
In school she attracted attention for her art and poetry which were always a big part of her life and after she graduated, she received honors for visual arts. At the age of 14 Aleksandra found love playing guitar and, shortly after, collaborated in several bands. Performing and recording in Europe and the US, she has achieved growing recognition as an artist.

Music

Aleksandra's Songs are poems or short stories. Her dramatic and passionate songwriting transports the listener into a world of hope, darkness, despair, love and hate. Aleksandra says that each song has its own life and soul, rather than creating a style for all of them together. She finds it important to see them individually, so that she can take each song to its extreme and not be creatively limited in any way.
Some are guitar based; others were written on piano. Her unique musical style and distinctive voice show influences from contemporary pop, folk rock, funk, jazz and theatrical music, but the end result is something entirely new.

Art

Aleksandra's recent series of Oil Paintings entitled
"SONG PAINTINGS" were inspired by the poetry of her songs.
She has captured a figure, an expression or a scene on canvas that represents the essence of each song. Fairytale images like Dragons, Castles and Pirates, combined with a color theme for each story, invite the viewer into a visual journey through her music.

Her previous project "COLORS" presents her love for music.
A collection of Oil Paintings, each of them shows an instrument for a different month of the year. The colors are the seasons and the individual instruments represent the passion and obsession of music through the years.

Poetry

Aleksandra calls herself a Poet first, then a Musician and Oil Painter. Influenced by Dylan Thomas, Edgar Allen Poe, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan, Aleksandra's music and paintings are both inspired by the words first, and everything follows the poetry. Two of her best known poems are "The Blue Piano" and "The Albatross". Her newest poem is entitled "Strange Hours"
